George W. Wilson, Jr. Scholarship Fund

The ACTA Group

As many of our clients and friends know, George W. Wilson, Jr. died last November. George served as Bergeson & Campbell, P.C.’s (B&C®) chief technology officer for many years. To those of us who knew and worked with George, we loved his passion for life, we relied upon his expertise in information technology, and we appreciated and benefitted from his vision for the seamless integration of business, information technology, and accounting. Many more who did not have the pleasure of personally knowing George benefitted from his tireless efforts to advance the efficiency and productivity of technology in service of business, and to mentor new and diverse talent in the field.

To celebrate George’s life, accomplishments, and passion for technology, B&C created the George W. Wilson, Jr. Scholarship Fund in collaboration with the University of Maryland University College (UMUC), George’s alma mater. The Fund will forever honor George’s legacy by providing scholarships in George’s name to support either undergraduate or graduate students at UMUC. To be eligible for a scholarship through the Fund, a student must be majoring in Accounting and Information Technology or related fields of study, preferably with the goal of becoming a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and must meet certain other scholarship criteria more fully described here.

Many of you knew George, worked with him over the years, and/or have worked with George’s wife, Linda M. Rubenstein, who is also part of the B&C family. Because of this, we wanted to give you an opportunity to celebrate George’s life and help a deserving student at the same time by making a contribution to the fund. We can think of no better way to honor, celebrate, and remember George.
