August 2022

NACD Pre-Conference Regulatory Workshop, August 17, 2022, Indianapolis, IN

Engler, Ph.D., Director of Chemistry, The Acta Group (Acta®) for a special pre-ChemEdge workshop, "Situational Regulatory Awareness – What to Do When a Single Chemical Product Is Subject to Three Major Regulations – TSCA, FIFRA, and FFDCA." Many chemicals regulated under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) also fall under the Federal Insecticide, Rodenticide, and Fungicide Act (FIFRA) and/or the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA). The overlap causes confusion and can lead to severe penalties if not handled properly. This interactive workshop will use case studies patterned on real-world events to illustrate how different commercial activities involving chemicals can trigger all three regulations.

Domestic Chemical Regulation and Achieving Circularity (TSCA and FIFRA), May 18 2022, 12:00 p.m. EDT, via webinar

A circular economy requires new thinking about what products we make, from which materials we make them, and where products go at the end of their useful life. An important but often overlooked aspect of new product development is an understanding of the consequences of the product’s chemical composition and the end-of-life implications of the decisions made at the front end of the process. Working within this framework plays a critical role in building a resilient, dependable, and sustainable system that fosters innovation to develop a circular economy. Register now to view the recording of Lynn L. Bergeson, Richard E. Engler, Ph.D., Kate Sellers, and Mathy Stanislaus as they present “Domestic Chemical Regulation and Achieving Circularity.”

FIFRA Hot Topics, April 20, 2022, 12:00 p.m. EDT, via webinar

With year one of the Biden Administration’s term in the history books, we have a clearer sense of how the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proceeding on all fronts. EPA’s Office of Pesticide Programs (OPP) is focusing on long-standing challenges, especially a renewed effort to meet Endangered Species Act (ESA) consultation requirements and determining how best to meet core pesticide registration review obligations in 2022. These program priorities must reflect special considerations for environmental justice and climate change, advance critical science and policy issues, develop a fifth Pesticide Registration Improvement Act (PRIA) implementation framework, and display a renewed commitment to working collaboratively with state partners and other stakeholders to implement the program.

Register now to watch the Acta Group (Acta®) affiliate Bergeson & Campbell P.C. (B&C®) present "FIFRA Hot Topics," a complimentary webinar covering key OPP priorities and what companies should know to avoid market delays.
