On June 18, 2014, EPA proposed the most historic rule in its history: the Clean Power Plan. The proposal would, for the first time, impose regulatory limits on carbon pollution from existing power plants and is likely to have significant impacts throughout the economy. It calls for a 30 percent reduction in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from existing fossil fuel-fired power plants by 2030. The proposal has two main parts: state-specific emission goals and guidelines to help states develop plans for meeting the goals. The proposed rule would give states 10 to 15 years to achieve the reductions. States can develop their own plans or develop regional, multi-state approaches.
This complimentary webinar hosted by Pollution Engineering and featuring B&C’s Lynn L. Bergeson and Christopher R. Bryant, will focussed on:
- The legal authority for issuing the rule;
- The state-specific goals;
- The manner in which states must plan for and meet the goals; and
- The winners and losers in this rule.
- What you should do to make the rule work for you
