Leslie S. MacDougall to Speak at European and Asian Chemical Regulatory Conferences in April

Leslie S. MacDougall, Director of Regulatory Affairs for The Acta Group (Acta), has been invited to speak at ChemCon Europe 2014 in Istanbul, Turkey, and the International Conference on Chemical Policy (ICCP) 2014 in Seoul, South Korea.

ChemCon, a global platform that brings together more than 400 companies, governmental authorities, and international organizations in the field of international chemical control, is holding its 2014 European meeting March 31 – April 4, 2014, in Istanbul. Ms. MacDougall will present an overview of chemical regulation in China on April 2, 2014, and a session on best practices regarding global test programs and data sharing under various registration and notification schemes on April 3, 2014.

Later in the month, Ms. MacDougall will address the Korea Chemical Management Association’s (KCMA) ICCP, April 22 – 24, 2014, in Seoul. The KCMA’s ICCP 2014 conference is expected to draw record attendance due to the global interest in The Act on the Registration and Evaluation of Chemicals (K-REACH) as the January 1, 2015, effective date approaches. Ms. MacDougall will give a presentation on the similarities and differences between K-REACH and U.S. chemical assessment and management.

Ms. MacDougall, a former U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) scientist and regulatory liaison to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), has over two decades of global chemical control experience in government, private industry, and consulting roles. Her areas of expertise include the European Union’s (EU) Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH); China’s Environmental Management of New Chemical Substances (Decree No. 7) and Regulations on Safe Management of Chemicals (Decree No. 591); Korea’s Toxic Chemicals Control Act (TCCA) and K-REACH; and chemical regulatory programs in Canada, Indonesia, Japan, Taiwan, and Turkey, among other territories.
