Amy L. Babcock, MPH, DABT®, ERT, MRSB, Joins Bergeson & Campbell, P.C. and The Acta Group

Bergeson & Campbell, P.C. (B&C^®) and The Acta Group (Acta^®) are pleased to announce that Amy L. Babcock, MPH, DABT^®, ERT, MRSB has joined our firms as Senior Scientist. Ms. Babcock has 15-plus years of experience leading qualitative and quantitative human health risk assessments in industry and agency roles, most recently as Supervisory Toxicologist and Branch Chief of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention (OCSPP), Office of Pesticide Programs (OPP) in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. Ms. Babcock will offer clients technical excellence and seasoned regulatory process guidance for products subject to the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA), the Food Quality Protection Act (FQPA), the Pesticide Registration Improvement Extension Act (PRIA), the Endangered Species Act (ESA), and the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).

Ms. Babcock is an expert in the development and interpretation of physicochemical, environmental fate, exposure, and toxicity data to generate scientifically defensible human health risk assessment documents and improvement of label language pertaining to user safety. She has managed teams tasked with quality assurance/quality control of consumer safety reports and publications, including risk assessments, product claims, change control and deviations, and has created standard operating procedures (SOP) for technical, business, and administrative accuracy and completeness. As Branch Chief at OPP, Ms. Babcock championed the use of New Approach Methods (NAM), used to advance the science of risk assessment developed to meet federal regulatory requirements.

Prior to being Branch Chief of OPP, Ms. Babcock served as Consumer Safety Manager for RB (formerly Reckitt Benckiser), helped implement the Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act as a toxicologist with EPA’s Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution’s (OPPT) Washington, D.C., headquarters, and served as the human health toxicologist for the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality. She earned a Master in Public Health degree from the University of Michigan School of Public Health and a Bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences from Johns Hopkins University.
